Hike The Appalachian Trail Trip Overview:
Price: $2300 Per Person

Ever dreamt about hiking the Appalachian Trail? Just need that extra motivation to get started? Come and find out what it would entail on this month long adventure. We will walk you through the process of preparing for a thru-hike before we set off for the Appalachian Trail and while you are out you will learn the tricks of the trade as well as gain a solid foundation of backpacking skills. You may even decide to stay on the trail after we leave and finish this epic adventure.

The Goal: Roam is looking to teach participants the inner workings of a thru-hike. Our plan is to take those who are interested in an epic journey on one of the most magical and romantic hiking trails on the east coast. Your guides will take care of the first two weeks of trip planning, all logistics of the hike including planning all your food drops, and most importantly we will be a part of your gear decision process before you start the trip. The first two weeks we will focus on the day to day skills of a thru-hike, until it becomes second nature to you. On weeks three and four, we will be turning over the day to day choices to the participants and your guides will aid as a safety net. At the end of this trip, with your new skill set, you will be free to decide if you want to follow through with a solo completion of this thru-hike or if you would prefer to pick up another month long section in the future.

Route: The trips starts at Amicalola State Park, where we slowly ascend the approach trail of the Appalachian Trail. We will summit Springer Mountain, which is the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail and hike roughly four weeks in hopes to travel about 400 miles.

Conditioning: You do not need to be in top physical shape to hike on the A.T. It will be in your best interest to be somewhat physically active before your trip starts. We recommend that you do a series of practice hikes, be it short walks, even around your neighborhood. This will help break in your boots and get you used to carrying a pack on your back. The closer you get to your trip date; you will want to make sure all your gear fits in your pack and can be carried comfortably for an hour. This hike is one a the few Roam trips where by the end of hike you will be nearly a super human hiker. On this particular hike Roam will view the first few weeks as self preservation for all on the hike, guides included. This trip will be a true collabration between all participants and guides.

Equipment: Before your trip, Roam will work meticulously with you on choosing gear that best fits your body as well as does not cost you a second mortgage. We have a saying at Roam, "there is no such thing as right or wrong, but there is comfortable and uncomfortable." Your guides want you on the comfortable side. We have done thru-hikes before so we will steer you in the right directions in creating a light weight and realistic pack weight.

Cost: $2300 per participant (minimum of 2 participants for trip to run.) Roam will provide lodging in Atlanta on arrival (Sept. 22nd) and the night before departure (Oct 13th). We ask that you make your travel arrangements for an arrival time of 2:00 p.m., so your guides can go through an orientation with all participants. This should allow for enough time to get any gear that may have been forgotten. Free parking will be available for the length of your trip. You will be responsible for all restaurant meals eaten off trail. You are also responsible for airfare/transportation costs to arrive at Hartsfield-Jackson (Atlanta). We provide awesome guides, food on trail, lodging, camping fees and permits, transportation once you get here, and good company. To Reserve a Spot
