GENERAL TRIP INFO:
Roam offers one and two week backpacking trips, for women, in some of the most magnificent wilderness areas. We also offer a section hike and shorter thru-hikes, to give potential Appalachian Trail and Pacific Crest Trail thru-hikers a sample taste of what a thru-hike will entail. We focus on creating a small group experience, limiting most expeditions to 8 people. We do ask that you come into the course with an open mind. Working in a group will be challenging at times, here at Roam we embrace all situations and know that it is well worth the effort. We strive to create and maintain a supportive atmosphere and cannot do that without the participant’s honest effort. You will learn basic backpacking skills, hiking skills, outdoor safety and practice leave no trace principles while on your trip. When you are on the trail we will provide three meals a day, supplemented by snacks. Daily mileage is typically modest (7-10 miles) and can usually be adjusted based on the group’s needs. We try to have at least one layover or shorter day on our trips so you can relax; giving your body a well-deserved rest and the opportunity to take in the sights. Our trips are suitable for the novice, as well as the more experienced backpacker. We hope that we will see you on one of our trips soon.
